I have been with Sweatergang Companions for a few years now. Becky and my Supervisors are awesome and understanding! I looked after my mother until she passed in 2021, and realized my calling was to be a companion to others. My Companions are wonderful! I look forward to my visits with them everyday that I’m scheduled and love listening to stories they share with me, and our runs to grocery stores and Tim Hortons. Most of my Companions have children out of town, so if I can make their life easier I’m happy!! If this is your calling, I recommend Sweatergang Companions, and trust me, you will be forever loving it!
I have had a great experience working at Sweatergang for the past 2 .5 years. What I love best about this job is how grateful my companions have been( I.e telling me they love me, and how they couldnt live without me are a few examples).
I worked with an 101 year( living in her on home) who always thanked me after spending time with her chatting, doing meal preparation and cleaning her house most evenings. This has given me a purpose during my retirement.
I love the variety this part time job has given me and the flexibility of the hours. From dog walking, cooking meals, light house cleaning, taking clients on drives and out for coffee, playing games, shopping for groceries, doing crafts and just talking and sharing our stories there is always something different so it has been fun for me as well.

After covid 19 changed my job to working from home, I found myself with a lot of extra time on my hands. I decided to use this extra time to get another job. The reason I chose Sweater Gang Companions was because they allow me the freedom to choose my own hours and type of work I do. Everyone there is very easy to deal with and available to assist me whenever I need it, whether its regarding needing time off or checking in to get my feedback. What I Love about working for Sweater Gang Companions is that I feel like I am really helping the people in my community. It doesn’t feel like work!

Saying that I am happy in my position as a companion working with Sweatergang would be an understatement. I love working for Sweatergang! This job enables me to help people and make meaningful connections with them. I have worked for the Sweatergang for over a year now. To be honest I wasn’t sure this job would fit in my lifestyle. I’m in my late 50’s raising my adopted son who is 7 yrs old, spending time with my adult children and grandbabies and caring for my sick mother. How is this possible you ask?
